WHY MAG-UAV?

TMI Test Site.png
TECHNICAL  DESCRIPTION

The MagXplore Mag-UAV system was designed to acquire magnetic data with the same characteristics of conventional airborne helimag systems.

The platform UAV Matrice 600 has been equipped with the high sensitivity optical pumped  potassium magnetometer GEM GSMP 35U-UAV.

The magnetometer is installed in a bird  that is suspended 3m below the platform.  At this distance the magnetic noise of the drone fades away and is not registered by the magnotometer.

The MagXplore Mag–UAV operates closer to the ground in step terrains (30 - 60 m AGL), compared with the conventional airborne platforms (helicopter or fixed wing  @ 75 m - 150 m AGL). The lower flight altitude permits higher resolution of the magnetic survey.

HSE ADVANTAGES

Reduction of accidents and risks of field personnel:

  • Falls

  • Ankle sprains

  • Solar exposition

Reduction of the number of personnel at the site
Reduction of the environmental footprint
Reduction of  the impact and interactions with communities

Comparacion UAV - Walking Mag.PNG
TECHNICAL ADVANTAGE

The comparison of the Mag Data between the Ground (walked) and the UAV platform confirm that both systems register the same mag signal and correlate one-another.  The comparison data was acquired with the Ground Mag in walking mode (sensor altitude of  2.2 m) and the UAV Mag platform flying at 2 m AGL.

NAVIGATION SOFTWARE

The software used for line planning and telemetry of

field operations is UgCS Navigation.  Its advantages are:

  • Can be programmed to follow the terrain at the desired altitude.

  • Each mission can be programmed with multiple waypoints

  •  The mission can be prepared automatically or manually  with a 3D interface.
